Core77 Design Award 2026 for the URBN HOOP®
June 22nd, 2026
The URBN HOOP® has received a Notable distinction in the “Built Environment” category at the Core77 Design Awards 2026 in the United States. With this award, the international jury recognizes the system’s contribution to the design of public spaces and confirms the URBN HOOP® as more than just a sports product – it is a component of contemporary urban and open-space design.
The URBN HOOP® has been honored with a Notable distinction in the “Built Environment” category at the Core77 Design Awards 2026. This renowned award is among North America’s most respected design competitions and recognizes projects that contribute to the quality of our built environment.
What makes this recognition particularly noteworthy is the category itself. The “Built Environment” category evaluates projects from the fields of architecture, public space, urban infrastructure and city design. The award highlights that the URBN HOOP® is not only perceived as a sports product or design object, but also as an integral part of public space and a contribution to the development of modern cities and open spaces.
In its statement, the jury especially emphasized the URBN HOOP®’s ability to translate the cultural significance of streetball into a durable and distinctive solution for public environments. Rather than being viewed as a variation of an existing standard, the system was recognized as an independent contribution to the quality, identity and usability of urban sports and community spaces.

Only nine projects were recognized in the Built Environment category. We are therefore especially pleased to receive this international recognition.
With the Core77 Design Award, the URBN HOOP® has now received its sixth consecutive award. Following the ISPO Award, Designpreis Brandenburg, iF DESIGN AWARD, German Innovation Award and Red Dot Award, the Core77 jury has also acknowledged the quality and relevance of the project.
This award once again demonstrates that our work is recognized not only in the fields of sport and product design, but also by professionals in architecture, urban planning and public space design.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the development of the URBN HOOP® with their expertise, dedication and commitment.
